Death is for the living

Life is a phase we all go through. Phases end. Not for me, but my friend, Felix. He told me its caught up with him. Felix doesn’t tell me exactly what, but I suppose it has something to do with his heart.
It happened at school. Games of tiggy when you’re sixteen should not end in tears, but it did. Felix is one of the fastest kids I know. There’s no catching him. But today I did. I knew something was wrong immediately.
He remained vague about it all, except for his time of death. Felix has about a month left. A month. He’s barely lived at all, and his time is up.
I’m one of the first friends he’s told. He told one other, Tim. Tim needs a good punch. Bring him down to Earth a little. Tim makes jokes about Felix’ death. I can tell it hurts Felix, but he says nothing.
People say God does this for a reason. If that’s true, I have no time for religion.
